Did you know that It has been recorded that the Kildare militia were present at the Lehaunstown Camp in October 1796 where they were undertaking manoeuvres at Tully Church?During archaeological excavation of the Cherrywood site a Kildare Militia button was found, and it is possible that the button was lost during this time or within this period of occupation of the camp. All-metal, disc buttons were introduced for all ranks in the last quarter of the 18th century.••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••#factfriday #archaeology #cherrywooddublin #ireland #irishhistory
